Pitti Uomo 96 – Review

After a long conversation with a photographer at the airport of Florence, Szymon and I realized that „Streetstyles of Pitti Uomo“ has not the same meaning as two years ago, when we’ve visited the Fortezza da Basso for the first time. When you google „streetstyles“ and „pitti uomo“ you guys will find sneakers, oversized t-shirts and ripped jeans. But actually this is not what the Pitti Uomo is about! The Pitti Uomo is about classy menswear, which means it is about suits, elegance, humbleness, fabrics and combinations. It is not about common streetstyle brands and being super extroverted. It seems that magazines like the GQ, Vogue or Vanity Fair only show the styles of men and women which show special and famous brands which sell better – that is pretty annoying.

After we skipped the Pitti Uomo 95 in January we decided to go to the Pitti Uomo 96 which officially took place from 11.06.19 until 14.06.19. For this edition we were working with brands like FALKE, Scarosso und AmideHadelin. Szymon and I dressed almost the same for all three days – outfit pictures below from each day. Together with other menswear writers, bloggers and influencers like Johannes Laschet (@joe_laschet), Ralph Widmer (@a.gentlemensworld), Niklas Hoppe (@vintagebursche) & Wilhelm Strängh (@thedonsclub) we spend three wonderful days full of suits, good conversations and a lot of Pizza and Aperol Spritz in Florence. This summer’s edition of the Pitti Uomo was the first time that Szymon and I did not meet a lot of new people – additional to that we also didn’t really review the fair itself. But after we had our review during our flight back from Florence via Frankfurt to Bremen we are pretty excited and motivated to be more active again and eventually redo our website. There are already a few blogposts in the making and even more planned.

TOP 9 CLASSY MENSWEAR INFLUENCER YOU SHOULD KNOW – Pt. 2/3

When it comes to fashion it seems like every fashion-conscious man has a similar opinion as our first three influencers showed us. A beautiful three-piece suit, autumn colors, thick fabrics… finally Tweed again! Felt hats instead of Panamahats and also scarfs are wearable again.

In the first part we ask Johannes, Dennis and Fabian for an interview – all three had the same opinion about question no. 5. If the following three influencers also give the same reply?

How old are you?

– I´m 25 years young.

Which city do you come from?
– I come from several cities. Born in London, raised in Frankfurt and Stockholm, went to school in Edinburgh, lived in Munich and study in Milan now. As you can see, very multi-cultural.

Why classy menswear?

– I’ve always been interested in fashion. But I feel most comfortable in a suit, shirt and tie. Of course this kind of comes from the time being in a boarding school where we had to wear a uniform. Nevertheless I have my passion for classy menswear from my father, who wears bespoke suits on workdays and is always well dressed on the weekend. When I asked him why he likes to dress dapper, he said that you never know what happens or who you meet. You should always dress to be prepared for everything. Classy menswear means timeless elegance for me, which I like to wear and which embodies my style.

Is there a signature-piece, which represents you and your style?
– There is not really a „signature-piece“. My taste and the range is way too versatile. But if I should tell you what I like to wear most, I’d say a bespoke suit and always a pocket square.

Which is your favorite season and why?

– My favorite season is Autumn. Just Autumn, since the Winter requires solid footwear. Spring and Summer are mostly too warm for me. But the Autumn is perfekt to present a creative layering. Additional to this I like the color game in Autumn. My closet is already oriented to the third and fourth season.

According to this I’d say, that I work everyday on myself to call myself a „gentleman“. this is very laudable and a great attitude! Cheers Will!

Would you call yourself a gentleman? If yes, why? If not, why?

– Am I a gentleman? This is something other people should claim about me. I like the phrase „a gentleman is not born but made“. According to this I’d say, that I work everyday on myself to call myself a „gentleman“. My actions should speak for themselves.

Which is your favorite drink?

– Ich trinke am liebsten einen Moscow Mule. Aber einen richtigen, im Kupferbecher mit einer Gurkenscheibe und ein wenig Grünzeug. Damit kannst du mich gerne bedienen. I love to drink a Moscow Mule. But the real one, in a copper cup, a slice of a cucumber and green stuff. You can gladly serve this to me.

What is your favorite movie?

– That’s for sure! All Bond movies with Connery, Moore, Brosnan and Craig. So it’s more than one favorite and also more than ten… Not just because they drive an amazing car (especially the DB5) and rescue the world in a Smoking or suit, also because I always wanted to own an exploding pen. Ian Flemming has a special place in my movie-heart. I`m sure I´ve seen all of them more than ten times and they never get boring for me!

Which medium is your favorite and why? (Blog, Newspaper, Instagram)

– Since I´m travelling a lot, Instagram is my source of inspiration, my working place and my hobby. On Sunday mornings I like to read my favorite blogs and „Permanentstyle“, „Shoegazing“ or „TheRake“.

– I am 32.

Which city do you come from?
– Originally I`m from Kaarst near Dusseldorf. For the study and work I moved to Aachen for ten years and now I live in Cologne.

Why classy menswear?

– When I started my studies I got active in a student’s association. A suit was mandatory at public events. Since I sewed a lot of clothes for a historic live roll-play and researched middle-age armaments and clothes before, I thought: If you have to wear suits regularly, then do it perfect. Since then this passion is developing. My inspirational source are historic pictures and movies/shows which play before the second world war. But I do not limit myself on „vintage“. A man always looks better in a suit. The positive feedback for my appearance also motivate me to keep this going and develop my style further.

Is there a signature-piece, which represents you and your style?
– This „one piece“ does not exist for me. But I have a propensity for green and brown tones and classy headwear. Additional to this I rarely leave the house without a collar needle.

Which is your favorite season and why?

– Autumn. Warm enough to not freeze, cold enough to not melt in tweed and flanell. Beside to this I like the nature colors in Autumn.

„When it comes to style I can recommend the show Boardwalk Empire.“ – Gentlemen, seems like there is not only „Suits“ and „Mad Men“ for us. Looking forward to the next rainy days!

Would you call yourself a gentleman? If yes, why? If not, why?

– I would never call myself a gentleman. That’s not a tag you can give yourself. This is a tag you have to earn and which is given external. But I put a lot of effort to behave like a gentleman. Honest, genuine, respectful, polite and courteous – this has also something to do with the way to dress.

Which is your favorite drink?

– I like to drink Rye and Bourbon, that is why I like drinks containing these – Old Fashioned or Whisky Sour e.g.. But a beer is also good.

What is your favorite movie?

– Pulp Fiction. Tarantino writes the best dialoges and Pulp Fiction is his master piece. When it comes to style I can recommend the show Boardwalk Empire.

Which medium is your favorite and why? (Blog, Newspaper, Instagram)

– I started with Facebook and the freedom on blogs is great, but at the moment I like to use Instagram. I get the most feedback there. Furthermore there are a lot of other fashion-conscious men which inspire me. This exchange does not exist on Facebook or on the blog.

Which city do you come from?
– I was raised in the region of Aschaffenburg, but at the moment I´m more around Rhein, Main and Neckar area.

Why classy menswear?

– Through my student association I have a lot of opportunities wearing formal menswear. Then you start to try new combinations and find yourself. My point of orientation are the twenties with all their varieties. It brings a lot of fun to me developing my own style, combining fabrics, fits and colors. Classy menswear offers a lot of varieties. Not least I like to wear classy menswear, because for me it spreads awareness:
A suit is not something you just put on or put it away. It needs care, must be worn with consciousness and combined well. As much as I pay attention to my environment and fellows, as much I pay attention of the things I wear – preferential classy menswear.

Is there a signature-piece, which represents you and your style?
– Everything is variable, doesn’t matter if it’s the tie, bowtie or an open collar, two-piece or three-piece, but no matter what, the pocketsquare is a must!

Which is your favorite season and why?

– To clothe I like the Spring season most. It is still cold enough, that you can put on different layerings out of thick fabrics. I especially like to wear cardigans and waistcoats. Additional to that, you have the full range of flowers for your lapel – always a nice eye-catcher.

Would you call yourself a gentleman? If yes, why? If not, why?

– At least I try my best to be a gentleman. For it means to show respect, decency and politeness. Respect to me means to face your opposite with candor and goodwill. Decency, not to do everything you can, but to do what’s right. Politeness, because you should always be polite to everyone. Gentleman – besides of the sense for culture and taste this term brings something like urbanity and a good portion of self-irony.

Which is your favorite drink?

– Nothing compares to a good Old Fashioned.

What is your favorite movie?

– Spontaneous I would say „La La Land„, but I´m sure I would take this back thinking a little longer. But just the confidently stylish details make the movie definetely watchable – especially the spectators of Ryan Gosling.

Which medium is your favorite and why? (Blog, Newspaper, Instagram)

– I would love to have more time to read in the newspaper, the print version is irreplaceable. But in the daily study business it’s more the digital newspaper and Instagram, which I check daily.

MUST HAVE FOR FALL/WINTER SEASON

Gentlemen’s Club Germany X Falke Anniversary

About one year ago we started our collaboration with FALKE – we thought a shooting with 7 gentlemen in underpants and knee-highs would be appropriate in the beginning! Since then we had a lot of chances to show you some FALKE products from their fashion- and stockings section. Unpacking fresh new stockings and put them on our feet is a feeling we are really looking forward for. This year we did not have to freeze in the woods – we had the opportunity to use one of the rooms of the Dorint Park Hotel Bremen for our shooting.

MUST HAVE

Not only for the upcoming fall/winter season, also for all the following and preciding seasons knee highs are the „MUST HAVE„. The good look is not enough – it has to be comfortable to provide your selfconfidence a certain spice. FALKE sent us some pairs of stockings from their current collection of Airport, Oxford Stripes and Shadow.

Gentlemen Wear Stockings

The current trend leads men to wear slim and short fits. If we want to sit comfortable, to lean back and cross one’s legs, the pant legs get pulled up. To avoid skin shining through between stocking and pant leg, we should always choose knee highs. For the same reason we should also wear knee highs in summer seasons, but fortunately we have „Invisibles“ as an alternative. We really got used to wear kneehighs and do not want to miss them anymore – if you never wore kneehighs, we recommend to do so and let us know your experiences!

TOP 9 CLASSY MENSWEAR INFLUENCER YOU SHOULD KNOW – Pt. 1/3

To serve a niche as an influencer is not simple but even more fun when you put the more effort in it and when there are other influencers who serve this niche, too! Classy menswear is definitely a niche in german social media channels. If you are a little bit into this topic and think international, you might get the feeling, that this section is anything but a niche. But if you see the whole range you’ll notice, that this field is not a well common topic. Especially in Germany leading male influencers on social media like Instagram do more concentrate on the so called streetstyle. Leatherjacket, t-shirt, as much as possible ripped jeans, chelseas or sneakers. Precisely the things the majority loves to see. Some of them are very authentic, others are copies. This can be a benefit as well as a disadvantage for influencers in classy menswear. The disadvantage is, that the influencers, which dress very well and take a lot of care of their social media appearance, get less attention which effects on business. The benefit is, that these influencers do their thing no matter what. They keep being authentic not trying to fit in for the majority. We looked for the TOP 9 INFLUENCERS in classy menswear in Germany as per our opinion and ask them some simple questions to introduce them to you:

– I`m 29 years old.

Which city do you come from?
– I`m coming from the imperial city of Aachen, which is my home. But I`m living in Bonn.

Why classy menswear?

– Classy menswear does not follow trends and it’s characterised by timelessness and elegance. Furthermore I like the lifestyle and the nostalgic flair, which surround this topic.

Is there a signature-piece, which represents you and your style?
– There is no one signature-piece I have. But I’m very into dark blue suits, leatherjackets or my balloonhat. „Pieces“ you can see often on me.

Which is your favorite season and why?

– Certainly the fall/winter season. For one thing I love the classy colors which characterise these seasons, for another thing I’m a huge fan of layering! Wearing a three-piece-suit made out of tweet or an elegant coat is something beautiful.

– Of course. Being a gentleman does not only include a certain style, it especially includes the behavior, a man displays. Besides of good clothing it also needs politeness, tolerance, openness and education. In my opinion the style and the attitude of an gentleman build a symbiosis.

– My favorite drink is a beer. But I`m also a friend of a good whisky.

What is your favorite movie?

– My favorite movies are „Fight Club„, „Snatch“ and „The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button„.

Which medium is your favorite and why? (Blog, Newspaper, Instagram)

– If it comes to fashion and inspiration, it’s Instagram. If it comes to topics like politics, society and culture I like to read newspapers.

Servus, my name is Fabi, I`m 24 years old and I come from Nuremberg.

Why classy menswear? I´m starting at the age of 15. A young boy who not knew who he is but already had an imagination of how he wants to look: „Some day I want to wear a beard, suits and have tattoos…“.

In these days that was not imaginable for me, but one day I realised: „Hey, somehow you made it!“ But now to classy menswear. I always liked the classy image of a man, since a „simple“ suit can change the outer appearance of a man – positive. But this is not the point. Unfortunately this style, which should bring a certain characteristic aspiration, came out of fashion. These certain characteristic aspirations bring me to the question, if I’m a gentleman or not. In my opinion, nobody should name hisself a gentleman. Furthermore his doings and manners against other people should award him this title. So it’s up to my fellows to evaluate this…

My signature-piece is definitely the pocket watch of my grandfather, which I always wear on my waistcoat, since he passed it on to me. The favorite season for me regarding fashion is clearly the fall. You cannot only wear easily a three-piece-suit, you can also combine a light coat/trench at pleasant temperatures. If I would say that whisky is my favorite drink, I would’ve served another cliche right? But he shares the first place with a good glass of red wine.

„The Wolf Of Wallstreet“ is my favorite movie, in my opinion a modern classic, where fashion is secondary, but beautiful to look at. My favorite medias are Instagram and blogs. I use Instagram mainly to get inspiration for fashion. I use the blogs to get to know the people behind the instagram accounts.

– I do not have the one favorite movie, but I can delight myself for several genres. In my top 10 are „Into the Wild“ and „Once„.

– Also here I have several favorites: I`m a huge fan of „The Rake“ magazine as well as the „Spiegel„. On Instagram I`m following a lot of great accounts.

Is the Pitti Uomo changing? – Pitti Uomo 94

Buongiorno a tutti!

In advance: IT WAS AMAZING!

Last week, Szymon, Rochiester and I were in Florence again. In this beautiful city where the world famous Pitti Uomo takes place twice a year. The ones who follow our blog and/or our instagrams a little longer, know how to review the Pitti Uomo. For the ones who don’t:

The Pitti Uomo is one of the most important, if not the most important trade fair for mensfashion. You can imagine it as kind of a fashion week, but the main action takes place on an exhibition ground. The shows of the brands are admittedly spread in the city center – but the main part is always on the exhibition grounds – the „Fortezza da Basso“. The big fairground (previously a fortress) has several halls and a few outdoor areas. Now you can almost assert, that the Pitti Uomo has two functions during the days of the fair:

On the one hand there is of course the trade. Inside of the halls hundreds of brands present their products which are basically concentrated on classy menswear. From hats over handmade shoes, ties, bags and glasse to suits consisting of modern fabrics and colors a modern man finds everything he desires – or at least the buyers! In these halls business is in the making and the buyers have the possibility to pre-order the collections of the next season.
On the other hand there are the so called „Pitti Peacocks“. Men stroll over the outside areas well dressed in suits, bride colors and outstanding outfits. Beautiful to look at, extremely inspiring – eminently communicative. Everybody in this place with the same passion: FASHION

Since fashion is not a simple topic, all different tastes are satisfied here – from very classy to very extravagant you can find many outfits – event very cool streetstyles.

And especially to the „Pitti Peacocks“ exist the most diverse opinions from the most different people.

Do „Pitti Peacocks“ break the Pitti Uomo?

Does the main event, the trade, lose it’s meaning?

Do the commonly vibes change?

To attend to these questions in detail would be too much input for this article.

But as usual we would like to share our view over the things (actually it’s my view but I`m sure that Szymon agrees mostly).

I would claim, that the Pitti Uomo would definitely lose a part of it’s appeal without the „Pitti Peacocks“. Perceived the media hype of this trade fair increases more and more, which of course can frighten some buyers/sellers, to fix the dates of the Pitti in their calendar, since there is a risk, that this event loses it’s authenticity. But the brands have a huge possibility to spread the name, the products and the message of their brand using influencers during the Pitti Uomo. So many lifestyle magazines send their photographers to shoot the ones, who maybe already wear the next season fashion of the brands exhibiting at this fair. Nevertheless the Pitti Uomo should not evolve to an influencer event – I´m sure that would be interesting and funny too, but the vibes of the Pitti Uomo, these „la dolce vita vibes“ would just get lost – and nobody wants that, right?

For which reason do Szymon and I visit the Pitti Uomo?

Already 6 month before the event I`m really excited to visit it – since it takes place twice a year, I´m excited all year long! When I visited the Pitti Uomo for the very first time, I just went there to be there. I`ve seen a lot of pictures on instagram and put this on my to do list. When I go to the Pitti Uomo now, it’s a mix between fun time and business time. If you would judge us from the outside, you would definitely call us „Pitty Peacocks“, and we would not deny it, even if the term „Pitti Peacocks“ has a slightly negative touch. But our business is being influencers and bloggers and we can exert this business perfectly at this fair. With every edition we make new friendships and get to know people who inspire and motivate us. And usual for every business, contacts are most important for new opportunities. Additional we have the possibility to take care of the already existing business relations, since the contact mostly exists through e-mails. So for us the Pitti Uomo is always personally and businesswise very succesful!

Our Styles

Also for this edition we collaborated with brands which sponsored us with outfits. On the first day Szymon and I wore a made to measure double breasted suit made by Van Laack – also the shirts of all three days are made by Van Laack. If you want to wear dapper shoes in summer, you definitely should wear loafers. Made in Italy was our motto on the first and third day – Scarosso offers a great choice of Loafers. For the second day, Szymon and I each managed a pair of loafers from our good friends and partners LLOYD. For the sun protection Stetson Europe provided us very chic panama hats and the optician Frenz, which is based in Bremen, provided beautiful Tom Ford sunglasses. Our long time partner Pellens & Loick sponsored some accessories.

As already said, this Pitti Uomo edition was an amazing event with great experiences and we are looking forward to seeing the evolution of this trade fair.

Moin everybody! “ Crete and return please! “ – that would be great right? I did it! Not that spontaneously, but I did it. Three weeks in advance I booked this trip together with my girlfriend. And this trip brought a lot of positives but also negative experiences with it. But there has just been one negative thing which you will read about soon… But first:

THE SERVICE
The L’tur service at the airport Bremen was great! We talked a lot and the staff told me about their own experiences in Crete. One of the employees even contacted the hotel to check if we could get a renovated apartment. That was a pretty cool thing – during the booking they checked if they could generate some vouchers so the costs get reduced a little. That worked, since I’m registered online and a birthday voucher was still valid!

THE HOTEL

Let’s talk about the only negative experience Elif and I had to make.

The Hotel Troulis Apartments s****d to be honest… The ones who followed my stories on @chorengel a little, already got a small impression. The first thing was the bed – two single beds instead of a double bed, uncomfortable and not fixed, so the single beds had to be pushed together several times. Not suitable for a couple. The kitchen furniture spreaded a terrible smell when opening the doors – we didn’t want to use the glasses and plates accordingly. The bathroom was pretty small what is not the problem on first sight. Even smaller was the shower with it’s huge curtain (at least it should’ve been a shower cabin). But I have to say it was clean! Wifi or general connection didn’t exist in our room – I mean it’s not the most important thing in your holidays to have Wifi, but somehow it’s still annoying. Another horrible thing was the breakfast. Bad variety, bad quality and presented very loveless. So everyday we had bread, olive oil, eggs and Feta. The cucumbers and tomatos were more or less acceptable.

Enough with the negatives…

BALÍ
The small village Balí, where we stayed for one week, was small but cute. It’s located very good between the big cities Chania and Heraklion and offers four beaches. All of them are reachable by walk if your not having problems with a little „hiking“. Our thighs and butts are strong like never before! In Balí exist very traditional but also modern taverns where you can eat excellent. And all the staff members are super friendly and corteous.

ACTIVITIES
If you’re planning to visit Crete, you should definitely rent a car for at least 3 – 4 days. Don’t invest too much money into a big car, since you’re only allowed to drive max. 120/130 km/h and many parts have a max. of 90 km/h. We rent a Fiat Panda at were happy with it!

On our first day with the car we headed to Chania. Chania is a very beautiful city, not too big and not too small with a lot of possibilities. In the small port of Chania you can find a lot of taverns – some of them try to „catch“ you, some of them don’t. A little more in the center you can find cute little shops and also modern shops for shopping and everywhere you find these small alleys where you can take a lot of pictures. #instacity

On our second day we wanted to start the day more relaxed, but in the end of the day we’ve been even more exhausted than the day before. I guess the height meters are the reason for that. First stop was Balos Beach. You can reach Balos Beach by boat or by car, but I`m pretty sure that it’s more exciting by car. By car you have to drive up to a montain – the last 8km have to be solved with 20 km/h, since it’s a very rocky road. Already the views from this rocky road are worth the 2 hours drive in total. Sometimes goats pass your way too until you arrive the beach. On the mountain you can find a free parking place – from now on you have to hike! If you have the possibility to bring solid shoes, do it! Elif made the way in flipflops though. I think there is no need to describe Balos Beach itself, just look at the pictures. #paradisebeach

Same with Elafonsi Beach – getting there through the serpentines is also very exciting!

Day 3 was a mix of citytour and beach day. We started the day pretty early to drive to the capital of Crete – Heraklion. A big city, very modern, maybe a little bit „too modern“. It’s missing the charme which we liked in Chania. Still Heraklion has a beautiful center with a lot of shopping- and food possibilities. Against our plan we left Heraklion after our lunch to go to a beach located between Heraklion and Balí.

THIRD WAVE COFFEE

My favorite café in Bremen is definitely the YellowBird – cool staff, cool variety of food and drinks, cool people who come there and it’s simply a cool location. In total it’s pretty cool. One day the founder Daniel recommended to check out the Third Wave Coffee Map before my next trip. If you check this map out, you can find three spots on Crete. Elif and I visited all three cafés and have been impressed three times. In Chania we had our coffee at „Coffee Lab“, in Rethymnon at „Brew Your Mind“ and in Heraklion at „Think Tank“. As already said, all three coffee shops were great, very good coffee/espresso, nice staff and consulting and top locations. Especially the „Think Tank“ was amazing. it has a area in front of the café, a backyard and a rooftop – all areas equiped with olive trees and other plants – simply DOPE!

RESULT
Don’t miss to visit Crete – a breathtaking island with a lot of sights and possibilities. Rent a car and discover the island. But I recommend to book a very good hotel including breakfast. Lunch and dinner in Crete’s taverns is great.

Try to learn some important words and frases of the country you visit. It’s very respectful against the natives and you’ll receive the same respect back.

Yes my dear friends, I have a new daily companion! Some of you might think, if you watch Szymon’s or my stories, that the new companion is Szymon, since we hang out almost daily at the moment.
BUT NO!
It’s not Szymon! The new daily companion is my first proper business briefcase by BeWooden!
And it’s been badly needed.

The ones who are working in social media actually have to be accessble 24/7 – ACTUALLY!
I´m saying „actually“ since I purposely decide against doing Instagram stories in every single situation.
The are and should be moments, where you should just enjoy the moment without thinking about how to feed your followers.

Nevertheless I still try my best to keep my laptop next to me so I have at least the possibility to bridge the time waiting for an appointment or during travelling. That enables you to be productive and the time passes by even faster!

Mario Bemer Firenze – Bespoke Shoes

Already in Summer ’17, when we visited the Pitti Uomo in Florence, we met Luca at the stand of Mario Bemer Firenze. We’ve had a really good conversation and when we asked, if he can imagine to collaborate with us, his reaction was very positive. Unfortunately we couldn’t arrange the collaboration in the same week, so we planned to collaborate in Winter ’18. The appointment has been done!

Location? The atelier of Mario Bemer – far away from the Pitti trouble. The atelier is pretty unobstrusive in a street nearby the Palazzo Pitti. Hidden behind two pillars you can find the broad window facade. Through the window facade you can get a good impression of the interior design of the store. To enter the store, the staff has to open the doors. Luca is having a chat with customers, but recognizes us directly and welcomes us with a wide smile.

After a little smalltalk we concentrated on the happening! Luca is showing us around the atelier. Proudly he presents the new tool, which he worked on for month. A new online tool on the website of Mario Bemer, where the customer has the possibility to design his own pair of shoes. That was very impressive but challenging at the same time. Even though at this time all the shapes and colors haven’t been completely available in this tool, we’ve been a bit overwhelmed with the choice of our pairs of shoes. You need time – you need patience and you should know, what exactly you want. Except when you want to try how many possibilities this tool offers you (I’m sure there are more than you can imagine!).

Luca is talking about the specials of the bespoke Mario Bemer shoes with that kind of passion you rarely see with people. All the shoes, doesn’t matter if ready to wear, made to measure or bespoke, are handsewed – but when you look at the shoes, you won’t see the seam. That’s what we call class and quality! Also the Y-shape of the sole is something very special of the shoes – it makes the shoes more comfortable during walking and makes the shoe perfect.

At the time Rochiester is shooting a lot of pictures, trying not to disturb the craftsman – you’d better say artist – we’re slowly moving back to the sales area, where Mario Bemer is finally waiting for us. After a little chat the real action starts – WE TRY THE SHOES!
During the fitting we once again noticed something very special about the Mario Bemer shoes – it’s Mario Bemer himself! When Szymon tried the shoes Mario just made two movements and knew, where to adjust the leather. After Szymon’s turn it was Rochiester’s turn and then, last but not least, it was my turn. The fitting was done pretty fast – the challenge was to choose the design. Keeping in mind that this shoe will fit perfect and will last many years with good care, we all decided for a timeless design. I´m already looking forward to visiting the event which Mario Bemer is organizing besides the Pitti Uomo – we already received the spoken invitation and I think we do not have to tell you guys, that we’re going to Pitti anyway. I hope that my pair of made to measure shoes arrive until then… You need 4-6 weeks of patience until the shoes are done – even more, when you order a bespoke pair… In this sense…a la prossima!

LLOYD Germany – New concept store in Bremen

Shoes made in Bremen! Well at least historically seen…

Nowadays the shoes of LLOYD Germany are produced in Sulingen, which is not that far away from Bremen. LLOYD Germany recently opened a concept store in the Katharinen-Passage and that’s a good reason for us, to visit it!

The store is not huge, but it’s big enough to offer the customers a good selection. We were welcomed very friendly and the employees already expected us. The sales team is young and very competent. During the time we spent inside of the store, every single customer has been offered help by a sales person in a very pleasant way. Kenneth and I are mainly interested in the pairs of shoes which are more classy.
A big selection doesn’t make it easy to choose a pair. In the end, both of us had to choose between two pairs.

The boxes mit the correct sizes will be picked up from the storage. Often the consulting already ends here, but not at LLOYD in the Katharinen-Passage. We’re talking about brown shoes with black trousers, which laces suit best – more classy ones from the 1888 collection or the ones from the current collection? – and then the decision is made. At this point we say thank you for the very good consulting!

My first pair of LLOYD shoes I got when I was 19 years old and I wore them for at least 6 years. This new pair of LLOYD shoes will surely last longer with a little care. On this day Kenneth and I are on the road a lot, since we have to work for the blog and have to shoot some outfits. So I directly put on the new shoes and realized soon, that these shoes are really LLOYD shoes. My feet do not have to get used to the shoes – they perfectly fit from the first step!

We will definitely come back again! Even if it’s just for a little chat with the sales persons!

Cardigan – when and how to wear it?

HELL YEAH!

Slowly but surely the temperatures are rising! We cannot wait to have the first Aperol somewhere at the river or in a park and enjoy the sun! Dressed dapper with sunnies and a hat!

BUT…

…right now the time hasn’t come! But there will be a time, where you are not sure, how many layers you should put on. If you wear the heavy coat over the jacket and the shirt, it could get too hot. But just wearing the jacket and the shirt could be too cold.

WHAT TO DO?!

We have a good recommandation for you!
Cardigans perfectly qualify for the transition time and furthermore. We especially recommend the cardigans of our partner FALKE!

But a cardigan does not only has practical functions! It’s also very good in early or late summer, to come through cool summer nights in a casual and dapper way. So a cardigan finds it’s place in an optical and also in a functional way – except at the beach maybe!

Style 1 – Cardigan replaces vest

Vests look super dapper – no doubt!
Cardigans have the same optical effect, as long as the jacket’s kept close!
But the good thing about cardigans is, that they keep you more warm and do not look too formal, in case you decide to take off the jacket.

As you know the focus of our blog is not on streetstyles – therefor you can find several blogs who all look the same. Nevertheless it happens that we wear a leather jacket the other time. We are still combining the look with formal trousers and smart shoes, but all in all it’s more a streetstyle. Also with a streetstyle the cardigan is the perfect solution for the transition time, when it’s still a little cold outside. Plus with a cardigan you can add a bit color to the look without overwhelming.
With a simple white shirt you can wear this bordeaux cardigan with or without a leather jacket!
